2020-2021 Jazz Band Auditions

Each student wishing to be a part of the Jazz Band will need to submit one unedited and continuous recording.  Please submit your recording to Mrs. Burgess via email (cburgess@colliervilleschools.org) by Friday, May 15th.  If the recording is too large to email, you may upload to Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive, and submit a link to you recording by email to Mrs. Burgess. 

audition pre-requisites

Audition Requirements
  • Students must be entering grades  9-12 at CHS for the 2020-2021 school year
  • All wind and percussion students must be enrolled in Varsity band or Percussion Class
  • Schedule must allow you to be in the Jazz Band Class​
  • All 12 major scales 
  • Required Solo (click here for recordings & sheet music )
  • 12 Bar Blues in Concert F Improvisation over a back track​​

    • Instructions: Let the backtrack play for 12 measures on its own, then perform 12 measures of improvisation
